This is Malaysia, not America

This is about my recent trip to Southeast Asia to attend Joey Yap’s Qi Men Academy Live in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At the end of March, my husband and I journeyed to Bangsor South in Kuala Lumpur, a new suburb in Malaysia. In the past few years, I found myself going to Southeast Asia to attend advanced classes in Chinese Metaphysics.

The plane flight was long with a stopover in Taipei, Taiwan. This broke the 17-hour flight to Kuala Lumpur. We discovered a new and less expensive way to commute once we arrived in Kuala Lumpur. It was Grab, which was equivalent to our Uber in the US. We knew instantly we were in Kuala Lumpur because of the hot weather and immense number of palm trees. The street signs were in an unfamiliar language. Steering wheels were on the right side of the automobiles, instead of the left.

Despite the change to warmer weather, we were greeted each day with smiles. The Malaysian students of Mastery Academy were considerate and kind. They arrived early to the event to save us seats daily, and Lucky Lee treated us out each day to lunch. He even gave me a custom made herbal medicine, that would help my arthritis. James and I tried to treat him back. He made the following comment to James and me, “This is Malaysia, not America.”

Don Tan, James Louie, Dr Pearly Yen, Lucky Lee, Janet Louie, Gigi Shim and husband. We got together for lunch each day during the event. Thank you Don Tan for this picture of our group.

Dr. Yen, Supachok from Bangkok, Mr. Lee

Janet, Lucky, and James. Thank you Lucky for arranging our lunch each day during the event.

Diane, Lucky, Joneth, and Janet had great conversations during lunch breaks.

Each morning at breakfast during our stay in at the VE Hotel and Residences, I was greeted by Robert Vega with a hug or kiss. I adored the beautiful dragon bracelet he wore each morning. It turned out that Robert also grew up in San Francisco. We had a lot in common, and we spoke and knew of people in the Chinatown Community. He also told us about his new life in the Philippines with Joan his wife. They moved from United States to the city of Davao in southern Philippines. We were happy for Joan and Robert and for their good fortune and new home in Davao. They also live a few blocks away from the President of the Philippines.

When we arrived at the event, there were long lines to get good seats. Some 2,000 people from 51 countries came to the event. During the bathroom breaks, I felt I was swimming upstream like a fish to get from point A to point B during the breaks. The visuals were beautiful and techno beat music was invigorating. The Nexus ballroom was large and accommodating.

Qi Men is used to help people and the practice is alive and well. We heard testimonials during the panel discussions. It even helped Chris Leong get out of jail. He had been detained for two months in Indonesia.

Chris Leong was happy to be free from an Indonesian prison. He
told us he was finally free, due to practicing Qi Men seven star path, a Qi Men ritual that involves asking the universe for help.
